Upper School Open House (Grade 6–12) | June 20
Students aged 6 to 10 learn within a warm, structured environment that blends the IB Primary Years Programme with the Ontario curriculum and the Reach Ahead program, allowing them to study math and language a grade level ahead.
Each day balances core subjects with coding, STEAM projects, music, language enrichment and public speaking, while hands-on inquiry, reflection time and well-planned breaks help children build strong academic foundations, creativity, confidence and essential life skills.

Grades 1 – 5 are built on the IB Primary Years Programme, integrated with the Ontario curriculum to blend inquiry-based learning with strong skill development in every subject. Through the Reach Ahead program, learners study math and language a grade level ahead, gaining deeper understanding, confidence and a lasting love of learning while remaining with their age peers.
As an IB World School, Lynn-Rose students learn together through rich units of inquiry.
Learners engage in six transdisciplinary themes:
Science in Lower School is built around questions, experiments, and hands-on discovery. Learners observe their environment, make predictions, test ideas, and record results, developing curiosity and critical thinking. Through inquiry-based investigations, they begin to understand real-world phenomena and build the skills to learn how to learn.
Social Studies helps children explore who they are, where they live, and how people and places are connected. Through themes of community, identity, and global citizenship, learners investigate relationships, responsibilities, and diversity, building empathy and a strong foundation for understanding the wider world.
This transdisciplinary approach nurtures curiosity, independence, and critical thinking, while building a strong foundation for success in the Middle Years Programme.
Building confidence in reading, writing and speaking
Through daily reading, writing and oral language activities, Lower School learners strengthen comprehension, grammar, vocabulary and presentation skills.
Inquiry-driven units and cross-curricular projects help them analyze texts, organize ideas and express themselves clearly and confidently in every subject.
Growing problem-solvers with strong number sense
Math lessons move from concrete to abstract understanding, building fluency in number operations, patterning and reasoning.
Hands-on tasks, real-life problems and regular practice help students think logically, explain their strategies and work confidently above grade level expectations.
At Lynn-Rose School, our elementary Physical Education and Health program offers engaging, hands-on experiences that promote movement, well-being, and healthy living. Students build physical literacy, teamwork, and lifelong wellness habits through active play, skill development, and supportive learning experiences.
At Lynn-Rose School, students participate in French class and learn the language through engaging, interactive activities that build vocabulary, speaking, listening, and communication confidence. They explore everyday conversation, songs, stories, and games to develop a strong foundation in French in a fun and supportive environment.
At Lynn-Rose School, our Visual Arts, Drama, and Music programs inspire creativity, confidence, and self-expression. Through hands-on artistic experiences, performance, and musical exploration, students are encouraged to discover their talents while developing collaboration, communication, and creative thinking skills in a supportive and engaging environment.
At Lynn-Rose School, our elementary students are exploring the world of technology through coding, STEM, LEGO Robotics, and hands-on learning in our STEM room. Through creativity, collaboration, and innovation, students are building future-ready skills while discovering how technology can bring their ideas to life.

Learning is showcased in student portfolios and shared with families through regular reporting and parent–teacher conversations, ensuring everyone understands how each learner is developing.
Achievement is also celebrated through awards and recognition, highlighting both academic success and personal growth so that progress feels visible, meaningful and motivating for every student.
Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) testing from Grade 1 also tracks growth and guides instruction using individual student data, ensuring teaching is responsive and targeted.
At our private Elementary school in Mississauga, life competencies are developed through the IB Learner Profile and embedded into daily learning, leadership and reflection. Students grow as communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced and reflective learners, practising these attributes in class projects, clubs, field trips and community initiatives.
Through inquiry-based tasks, collaborative problem-solving and student-led activities, learners build essential skills in thinking, communication, self-management and collaboration. French language learning begins in Junior Kindergarten as a dedicated language enrichment subject, giving students earlier exposure than many schools in the region.
Through engaging lessons, cultural activities and events such as the French Café, learners build a strong foundation in French, develop confidence using an additional language and deepen their intercultural awareness alongside the school’s IB, AP and Ontario academic pathways.
Primary students at Lynn-Rose access a rich range of International Learning Opportunities (ILOS) and global enrichment experiences that extend learning beyond the classroom. Children can take part in activities such as ISP Filmmakers, ISP Artists, Chess Master, Speech Competitions, Spelling Bees, STEAM Challenges, Mathletics, Raz-Kids and I Excel, developing creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving and communication skills while connecting with peers across the ISP network.
Across the year, students also take part in four linked field trips that bring their units of inquiry to life through visits to destinations such as Riverwood Conservation Area, the local library, the Ontario Legislative Building, Mountsberg Conservation Area and Downsview Park, exploring themes like nature, community services, government, science and sustainability.
At Lynn-Rose, Grade 5 students culminate their Primary Years Programme with the PYP Exhibition - a collaborative, transdisciplinary project where they investigate real-world issues, conduct in-depth research and share their learning with the school community. This meaningful milestone showcases their growth as knowledgeable, caring and reflective learners, and highlights their readiness for the next stage of their educational journey.
